NVIDIA has launched GeForce GTX 680, a next generation of graphic cards based on NVIDIA’s groundbreaking Kepler Architecture. The idea behind Kepler was to build world’s fastest GPU, but also the world’s most power efficient. Feature wise, we added new technologies that fundamentally improve the smoothness of each frame and the richness of the overall experience.
GeForce GTX 680 is equipped with 1536 CUDA cores and accesses its memory at 6 GHz (effective) through a 256-bit interface.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 new features include:
• GPU BoostGPU Boost automatically adjusts the clock speed based on the power consumed by the currently running app. GPU Boost overclocks the GPU (up to 1,058 MHz) in real time to increase performance.
• Adaptive V-Sync
With Adaptive V-Sync, V-Sync is enabled only when the frame-rate exceeds the refresh rate of the monitor. When the frame-rate drops below this rate, V-Sync is automatically disabled, minimizing stuttering in games.
• FXAA
FXAA is a new way of performing anti-aliasing that’s fast, effective, and optimized for modern game engines. Instead of rendering everything at four times the resolution, FXAA picks out the edges in a frame based on contrast detection. It then smoothes out the aliased edges based on their gradient.
• TXAA
TXAA combines the raw power of MSAA with sophisticated resolve filters similar to those employed in CG films. In addition, TXAA can also jitter sample locations between frames for even higher quality.
• 3D Vision Surround Sound
GeForce GTX 680 is capable of running three monitors for gaming, with the option for a forth monitor for web or IM.
